An Interview with Brian
An Interview with Brian

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Opinionated. Curious. Introvert.

What has been the journey of your life so far?

I was born and raised in Western Kenya into a small family and went to school there. In high school I discovered a love for reading. The desire for a different life made me move to Nairobi to complete my education and it is where I currently live.

How exactly did you end up at Asilia?

While still at university I started doing some paid web development work and was always on the lookout for internships and jobs, which is how a friend at Buni TV recommended me for a position at Asilia.

What do you like or don’t like about working at Asilia?

I love working with funny, quirky and passionate individuals who appreciate good craftsmanship in a flexible, relaxed atmosphere, as part of a small but diverse team.

Are there other interests you have outside Asilia and web/app development?

Yes, I will read anything that is remotely interesting from books to blogs about technology, business, sciences, style, and film. I also love watching movies and playing video games. For the outdoor stuff, I swim and play rugby and football on weekends.

Is the glass half full or half empty?

Half full. I appreciate the small victories and moments of excellence that I have, whether its finishing a project successfully, finishing a book or learning a new skill.

What has been your proudest moment in life?

Graduation and getting a great job.

If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you bought?

More lottery tickets, just in case I am on a hot streak.

What do you believe in more – religion or science? Why?

Neither, I believe in making informed decisions, and having a life with a purpose, that is beneficial to myself, family, friends and community.

Finally, which do you rely on more – passion or reason? Why?

I rely on passion more because it is what keeps me focused, and gives me strength to push on during the most trying times of my life.
